Report: California Newspaper Group Helping Hide CIA-Designate Leon Panetta’s Abuse of Public Official Power

Badger Flats Gazette investigative reporter Gene Forte says MediaNews Group intentionally not reporting facts.

badgerflats.com - January 28, 2009

(PRNewsChannel) / Monterey, Calif. / First, members of Congress and the media received some investigative material from the Badger Flats suggesting Leon Panetta was linked to an abuse of public official power. Then, there was a suspicious delay in the confirmation hearings of Panetta as the new CIA director.  But still, no official report – other than in the Badger Flats Gazette – has been published providing the public with knowledge of the abuse of official power.

“It’s time the country and the president knew what was going on.  Or if they do know, it’s time to do something about it,” says investigative reporter Gene Forte.

Forte gained national recognition when McClatchy Newspapers credited him for breaking the story of Los Banos Mayor Tommy Jones violating California’s Fair Political Practices Commission Disclosure laws by failing to disclose loans from a local, powerful real estate developer.

Now, the reporter has revealed “investigative work that reads like an indictment for dummies,” he says.

Instead of waiting by the newsstand for a story that has yet to print, Forte is taking the message to the people.  More than 150,000 copies of the investigative proof against Panetta are actively being distributed all over Monterey, California and surrounding areas.  Forte hopes his grassroots approach will help the public read all about the cover up.

“I’m not afraid to go to print like the MediaNews Group newspapers (http://www.medianewsgroup.com/properties/),” he says. “This is a serious abuse of public official power by Panetta’s hometown/home state bipartisan cronies with Panetta acting like he doesn’t know anything about it. It’s time everyone knew about it.”

Forte says even after two daily editions of the Monterey County Herald have been printed since the delay in Leon Panetta’s hearings was announced, the Herald has yet to publish a single word about it. Panetta is a contributing columnist to the paper and Forte believes it’s quite clear MediaNews Group CEO Dean Singleton, who also chairs the Associated Press (http://www.ap.org/pages/about/board.html), is helping Panetta keep the story under wraps.

The Badger Flats Gazette has reported that Leon Panetta, regretfully, got caught up in helping to cover up obstruction of justice in a real estate trial before the Monterey Superior Court. Forte claims attorneys from the Fenton & Keller Law Firm where Panetta’s son, Christopher Panetta works, fixed the trial with judges on the case.

Forte says he personally told Leon Panetta of the incriminating evidence against his son’s law firm in a conversation (http://www.badgerflats.com/transcripts/) on Oct. 10, 2003.

Since releasing all of this information, no paper has been brave enough to report the facts they are seeing, Forte says.

“They’re keeping the story under wraps…not because it’s not important but because they don’t want to reveal the truth,” he says. “Leon Panetta is just another candidate for a job and President Obama must be a boss of integrity and look into this situation. The president needs to contact me so we can review this material together.”

As a former highly respected executive recruiter, Forte says he is appalled that Panetta is still even in the running for the top spot at the Central Intelligence Agency.

“The papers might be silent, but I’m not.  I’ll keep going until someone proves me crazy or proves me wrong,” Forte says.
